Day to Day Itinerary

Certainly! Here’s a day-to-day itinerary for the 6-day Marangu Route climb on Mount Kilimanjaro:

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, and transfer to your hotel. Attend a pre-climb briefing with your guide to discuss the trek ahead and check your gear. Overnight stay at a hotel in Moshi.

Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate (1,860 meters) for registration. Begin hiking through the rainforest, spotting wildlife and diverse flora. Reach Mandara Hut (2,700 meters) in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Mandara Hut.

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

After breakfast, trek through moorland vegetation, passing Maundi Crater. Continue ascending to Horombo Hut (3,720 meters), with views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo summit. Lunch on the trail. Dinner and overnight stay at Horombo Hut.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut

Spend a day at Horombo Hut for acclimatization. Optional hike to Zebra Rocks (3,980 meters) for acclimatization and panoramic views. Return to Horombo Hut for meals and rest. Overnight stay at Horombo Hut.

Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

After breakfast, trek through the "Saddle," a desert-like alpine zone between Mawenzi and Kibo. Reach Kibo Hut (4,703 meters) in the afternoon. Prepare for the summit attempt and rest before the final ascent. Dinner and early bedtime at Kibo Hut.

Day 6: Summit Day - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Wake up around midnight for a light snack and final preparations. Begin the summit attempt, hiking steep scree to Gilman's Point (5,681 meters). Continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa, for sunrise. Descend back to Kibo Hut for brunch and rest. Descend further to Horombo Hut (3,720 meters) for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate and Departure

After breakfast, descend through moorland and rainforest zones to Marangu Gate. Collect summit certificates and bid farewell to your mountain crew. Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a celebratory meal and overnight stay.
