Day to Day Itinerary

Certainly! Here’s a day-to-day itinerary for the 7-day Umbwe Route climb on Mount Kilimanjaro

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Attend a pre-climb briefing with your guide to discuss the trek and check your gear. Overnight stay at a hotel in Moshi.

Day 2: Moshi to Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp

After breakfast, drive to Umbwe Gate (1,800 meters) for park formalities. Begin hiking through dense rainforest, following a steep and challenging trail. Trek to Umbwe Camp (2,900 meters) for dinner and overnight camping. Lunch on the trail.

Day 3: Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp

Breakfast at Umbwe Camp. Continue ascending through the forest, reaching moorland and heath zones. Arrive at Barranco Camp (3,960 meters) in the afternoon. Lunch on the trail. Dinner and overnight camping at Barranco Camp.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

After breakfast, climb the Barranco Wall, a steep scramble with breathtaking views. Trek through alpine desert to Karanga Camp (3,995 meters). Lunch on the trail. Dinner and overnight camping at Karanga Camp.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Breakfast at Karanga Camp. Ascend through barren alpine desert to Barafu Camp (4,673 meters), the base camp for the summit attempt. Lunch at Barafu Camp. Rest and prepare for the summit push. Early dinner and early bedtime at Barafu Camp.

Day 6: Summit Day - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Wake up around midnight for a light snack and final preparations. Start the summit attempt, hiking steep scree to Stella Point (5,685 meters). Continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa, for sunrise. Descend back to Barafu Camp for brunch and rest. Continue descending to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters) for dinner and overnight camping.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure

Breakfast at Mweka Camp. Descend through rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters). Collect summit certificates and bid farewell to your mountain crew. Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a celebratory meal and overnight stay.
