Day to Day Itinerary
Certainly! Here’s a day-to-day itinerary for the 7-day Machame Route climb on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 1: Arrival and Start of Trek

Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, and transfer to the Machame Gate (1,800 meters). Begin trekking through the lush rainforest of the Machame Route. Hike to Machame Camp (3,010 meters). Dinner and overnight camping at Machame Camp.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Breakfast at Machame Camp. Trek through the heather and moorland zone, ascending to Shira Camp (3,845 meters). Lunch on the trail. Dinner and overnight camping at Shira Camp.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp

Breakfast at Shira Camp. Continue trekking east across the Shira Plateau towards Lava Tower (4,630 meters). Descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 meters) for dinner and overnight camping. Optional acclimatization hike to Lava Tower.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Breakfast at Barranco Camp. Traverse the Barranco Wall, a steep climb up to 4,200 meters. Trek through Karanga Valley to Karanga Camp (3,995 meters). Lunch, dinner, and overnight camping at Karanga Camp.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Breakfast at Karanga Camp. Ascend through barren alpine desert to Barafu Camp (4,673 meters), the base camp for the summit attempt. Lunch at Barafu Camp. Rest and early dinner before the summit push. Prepare gear and rest before the summit attempt.

Day 6: Summit Day - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Wake up around midnight for a hot drink and light snack. Start the summit attempt in the early hours, hiking up scree and snow to Stella Point (5,685 meters). Continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa, to witness the sunrise. Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and brunch. Continue descending to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters) for dinner and overnight camping.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

Breakfast at Mweka Camp. Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters). Collect summit certificates and bid farewell to your mountain crew. Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a celebratory meal and overnight stay.
